Roofdeck View

Yes, this is the view from my apartment building’s roofdeck. And yes, I am now in NYC for serious!!

Many, many hours of driving and a stop-over at Josh’s and more driving and three hours of train riding later, I’m finally (quasi-)installed in my apartment. I have unpacked my clothes — those that hang, that is, since I haven’t yet any kind of bureau / shelving device — my lamp, and my computer, though I’m still trying to figure out the wireless internet with the latter. Luckily (?), I don’t have a desk so I’m not in dire need of the wireless-ness just yet. Hopefully those problems will all be cleared up by manana. Oh, and that’s with a “~”.

But some of you may be thinking, “What did Andy eat for dinner tonight? What adventurous restaurant decision did Andy make?” Well, I have the answer. After talking on the phone with the mattress delivery people for what seemed like an eternity, I went up to the roofdeck and snapped a few shots of my skyline. MY skyline. Oh yeah. Then, after that, I decided to head out and find some good neighborhood restaurant where I’ll be spending my money for the next few months/years. A mere ten paces (no exaggeration) East, and I found the lucky proprietor that will be counting my loads of cash for the indefinite future:

Subway.

Yes, that’s right. Ten paces from my building’s door this is a full-service (maybe it’s a little cramped) Subway where, tonight, I enjoyed the first of many delicious Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki on Honey Oat with American Cheese and Select Fixings Subway sandwich. Oh yeah. The downside? I paid $8.50 for a foot-long meal. Do the math, people. I’m going to be a penniless sucker in no time. Obviously I’ll keep you abreast on that.

Hey Andy-is it noisy with the train being so close? I’ll see if I can find some coupons for Subway! Let me know about what needs to be mailed and how deliveries will work out for you…Mom

Congrats, city-kid! And welcome to the world of ridiculous pricing–I feel your pain, man. Glad to hear you got there safely.
