O Velvia…the color here is simply amazing. Love the ground-level engagement with your subject and the combination of shapes – the stones in the foreground are lovely. The out of focus area around the sun is a bit peculiar: it looks almost as if it is being blurred laterally, but it's not overly distracting and actually suggests wind to me. Thoroughly enjoy this one.

ooo i like this one. the leaf is lonely, yet needs no one else to support it. i could write an entire novel about each one of your photos.

well put, Al. I love the placement of the leaf; like it had just finished falling and was resting now. this is a wonderful photo. Look good in Idaho!

The sense of motion in the background, which Nathan noted, intrigued me from the start, because it seemed as though you may have intentionally moved the camera while shooting this image at a slow enough shutter speed to create the swirl. Yet, the yellow leaf is absolutely sharp and in focus. So, how did you achieve this ? Did you shoot it on a zoom, and pull the lens in, blurring the background but leaving the leaf in focus; I don't think that would have worked. Great shot.
