Man Leaning on Brooklyn Bridge

To celebrate the rebirth of internet in our apartment, I’ll post the last of the “misfits”. I’ve got lots of new stuff to come, so stay tuned.

Also, you might notice that a lot of my photos are being taken at 125-130mm at f/4.5. This is because of the incredible sharpness and gorgeous bokeh that my 70-210 produces at that focal length and aperture. I’m just lovin’ it — it brings me back to my very numbered days with the 80-200 f/2.8 before I had to send it back because of its backfocusing issues. With the 70-210, though, I can’t complain.

I’m also really getting the hang of the Channel Mixer adjustment layer in Photoshop. I’m starting to be able to recognize what RGB balance I want in the B&W conversion (for those not in the know, the Channel Mixer functions pretty much like the digital counterpart of a colored filter over B&W film, darkening like colors and brightening complementary ones), and the results can be drastically different! The power of PS will never cease to amaze me.

Looking at this one post-posting, I am now thinking I should have cropped off more of the right side. Anyone want to confirm this?

Maybe one more bar in the fence…no more.

Beatiful tones in this one–your channel mixing malarky works pretty well!
