Light Show Over La Crosse

I’m back from the cabin and, much to my excitement, we finally got a good storm last night. This is a photo of said storm, though the former hardly attests to the greatness of the latter; it started raining long before the lightning bolts revealed themselves from behind the clouds, effectively preventing me from getting any good bolt shots. Oh well. I still like this shot.

Saw Sin City for the first time last night. What a good film! Beautifully shot, great plot, engrossing characters. At one point I realized I hadn’t blinked in a very long while. That’s how good it was.

Speaking of Sin Cities, I recently found (on the Midd web site, of all places) a great “Survival Guide” to NYC, including several links to great event listing sites that report everything from open art and photography exhibitions to restaurant openings and reviews. The scale of it all is quite jaw-dropping and a lot of the photography galleries look like they’re well-worth the trip. Needless to say, I’m going to be one busy guy in the coming months (years?). I am really looking forward to it, especially after living here for these few weeks. I’m quite bored and feel like La Crosse is a bit of a cultural dead end. I mean, try finding a photography exhibit here. That’s what I thought.

Also, the photoblogging community in NYC seems pretty healthy, so I might actually be able to join other Manhattan photographers in tours of the city and get some good social contact with like-minded people. Sounds awesome, eh?

Sweet tones, and the curve in the road gives it a movement it wouldn’t otherwise manage.

    Yo Andy,
Looks like I’ve missed a lot in my 3 weeks (oh my, was it really that long? how did I survive??) without internet access, but fortunately that time is finally over. So, you’re moving to NYC! Congrats, and good luck! :)
