Leaning Flower II

Another shot from the same day as yesterday’s post. Hope you liked that one, since this one strikes me as quite similar. True, it’s a different “flower,” but still. Actually, come to think of it, this one seems a little Jandl-esque in its composition. Not only that, but it appears rather film-like for some reason. Correct me if I’m wrong. Also, do you see the bee?

So I’ve sold the Subaru to the parents. I am now technically carless (notably not careless) and at the complete mercy of my parents’ automobiliar desires. No, it’s not a word, but I’m finding that my sentimental attachment is preventing me from deleting it. Instead these lines will have to suffice as justification for the need of a word meaning “pertaining to an automobile.” There. Anyhow, we all figured that since I was moving to New York, I will not be needing a car in the near (or distant) future, so I might as well have money to pay for other types of transportation. And furniture. I’m gonna need that, I think.

Since I’m at a loss for what to write next, I’ll just abstain from writing anything. If you feel like reading one of my more philosophical entries, read yesterday’s. That should keep you busy.

Jandl-esque indeed. You make me proud, son.

I find the sticky-sharp yet somehow surreal feeling of this shot quite nice–but the most skillfull part of it is in the depth of field. You get yer bokeh, but you also get a real sense of the field and the other thistle blossoms nearby. It’s ALMOST distracting, but not quite. I’m on the fence about the saturation: one side of me says to give it a touch more, but the very slightly muted tones are equally nice. Maybe nicer, actually, given the “surreal” feeling I mentioned earlier. I’m rambling. The point is: it’s making me think about it and I like the composition. So well done.
