This one takes some explaining. It’s not my favorite picture ever, but I still like the tones and I like the story. Let me tell you the latter:
The city of La Crosse was named for a game that local natives played when the French voyageurs arrived here in 16… something. Maybe 15? I don’t know. Anyway, the French river travelers gave the sport a name: La Crosse. Somewhere along the way the Eastern prep school version of the game lost the space between “la” and “crosse,” but anyway, my town was named after the sport.
The funniest part of it all is that there exists not a single lacrosse team in the area.
Anyway, this statue was erected (shut up, Josh) to commemorate the origin of the sport, right in downtown La Crosse. A few years ago, this building went up behind it and it’s still the tallest building in the city. So, long story short, I like the juxtaposition between the origin of the city and the “future,” as it were. That is all.
P.S. Thanks to Don for his 60-some-odd comments made last evening on my photos. The critiques are welcome and the compliments appreciated

Thanks for the enjoyable viewing of MI-1 last night. I was laughing as I fell asleep, thinking about how I’m going to talk to my cufflink next time I’m at a party.
