I like the abstract attempt, and I think it works. My one suggestion, however, would be to lose the bird and most of the water–crop shortly below the bottom of the piling, in other words. The seagull adds a bit of humor, as they are wont to do, but I think it detracts from your otherwise quite artistic framing.
