Aside from the tones, the spaciousness of the forest and the well-done symbolism in this shot, I love also how the sense of compression leaves us feeling both very close to the cut ends of the tree and also that that tree is connected to the fallen log behind it, as though it is part of a massive growth – which, now, has been artificially abridged.
