For all those who thought that my site was getting a bit monochrome of late (it has — people just look better in B&W!), I thought I’d post something completely different from the “uje” — that’s short for “usual,” and it’s the closest I can get to spelling the first syllable of that word. Also, for those who want more of what I’ve been doing lately: Fret not, much more to come. Though I really do like yesterday’s shot. I mean, a lot. I can say with no ego that I think yesterday’s shot is my finest portrait to date. Of course, much improvement is needed. But that’s my favorite thing about photography: One can always learn to be better at it. This explains why, among other reasons, I’ve stuck with the hobby for so long. That and it greatly satisfies the gear junkie in me.
Anyhow, tonight I hung out with Helen Brown and her (almost intimidatingly) international friends/roomates and I had a blast. It was refreshing to hang with a group with whom I clicked relatively easily — I thought for awhile that I had just gotten more awkward since moving to NYC. Not so, I guess — especially when talking about skiing. Note to self: To break the ice with Europeans, talk about skiing. They all do it (some snowboard, but it’s the same idea) and everyone has a story to tell. Also note to self: Wine breaks ice. I don’t know what it is about the stuff, and I really hate to admit it, but it seems like with a little wine people try less hard and the conversations just flow into each other. Hemingway would be proud, I’m sure.
And thus concludes a great weekend, commencing, in its departure, the arrival of a hectic, job-searching-filled week with much to do. I’ll be busy. I’m even going to shut off the internet to help ward off the temptation of things like StumbleUpon and such. Also, I will disconnect my external hard drive and the episodes of Lost and Curb Your Enthusiasm it contains. I really need to work. Although it seems like I’ve got a web design job in the near future, ironically enough. We’ll see how that pans out. It would only be temporary, but it would certainly help with rent. Help I could definitely use, I’ll tell you.

Is that the RED or the WHITE?

B-E-A utiful photo, Cog. At first glance, I thought the colors were slightly “pushed,” but no more. What lens was this, by the way?? Is this the briefly famous 80-200 f/2.8?? It would seem so judging by your exif data…
And if so, I can understand why you were raving about the sharpness. Damn…

Up-Moid, I’ve been following your journey via the ‘interconnected system of networks.’ Sounds [actually, reads] like all is well. Talk to you later, your buddy, Bob.

Awesome photo, one of the best ones so far…and that’s saying A LOT. I would add it to your portfolio. Speaking of beautiful colors, I took your Silver/Orange Oakleys from La Crosse to wear. Don’t worry, I won’t lose them
I also have my road bike wheels back so I can use them too, but you’ll get those back as well. Other than that, nothing much new here. Liz has a bike now – we’re trying to ride a few times a week, but getting tough with our schedules. Supposed to cool down here in the next few days and it might actually feel like fall. A tout a l’heure.
